Everyone who contributes to the archive is required to sign a consent form that fully explains our privacy policy. The context of this page serves to review what that consent form described.
Who is the NYC Yoga Studios Archive?
NYC Yoga Studios Archive (NYCYSA) is a digital archive that collects stories from real New York yoga workers in the effort to preserve them for future research. Allison is the singular graduate student behind this project and it is under the direction of the Deputy Chair at York College and Professor / Deputy Director of the Masters Degree program in Digital Humanities at the Graduate Center. Allison is an active yoga teacher in New York City and meets the criteria for their own project.
Comments
Comments are enabled on the WordPress site and Omeka Classic Map site. This is done with the intent of crowd sourcing information with the intention of maintaining accuracy. If you choose to leave a comment on either, editing is enabled to allow visitors so that they can make changes at any time. Visitors will notice that they are required to leave their email and/or name. By leaving any comment, visitors are willingly giving NYCYSA their contact information, which will then be used to contact visitors if necessary. Contact information of any kind will not be shared or sold and all comments are screened out for necessity. If visitors want to leave an alias or fake email, that is completely up to them, but may be screened out for validity.
Media
You may rescind or modify any contribution to the archive that takes place in the form of media up until August 28th, 2023. After that, your media originally submitted as part of the September 14th deposit cannot be altered. However, if change comes to mind after this date any future iterations of the project it may have time to be removed. Note that the archive site itself will be taken down in September 2024, unless otherwise noted. Contributor items will be marked as private on the archive and will be contacted if the archive stays online longer than the initial time period.
Subscription
If you provide your email in a comment you may be added to our email list based on your permission. If you subscribe to NYCYSA email campaign, your email will never be shared. All emails collected are in the hands of the creator and are used within the confines of the contribution campaign that remains active until February 2023 – September 2024.
Analytics
Analytics are taken into consideration based on open-rate of emails and click-rates, solely to consider the success of this project. In-depth analysis is taking place for a limited time and will cease by November 2024.
Where is my data?
If you submit any contribution to the archive before August 1st 2023, your data will be included as part of a zipped archive located in the CUNY Academic Works Database. The data will also be in the hands of the archive owner in a backup drive. Your data outside of this project will never be repurposed.
Longevity of Data Retention
All contributions are to be stored in the above listed locations indefinitely.
Rights To Your Data
All contributors must be fully made aware of their contributions to the archive made prior to August 30th will be irrevocable from the above listed locations. The archive will stay online until September 2024. If the archive stays online for 1 additional year, any contributor has the right for their data to be removed.
